Clearwater River – North Fork - July 5th, 2010

Have a few reports coming in from the NFCWand the Kelly Creek area. The water volumes were up, but the higher one fishes, the less of runoff one has to contend with. Pools and seams really come into play and accuracy of the presentation is more focused, especially using small BWOs, small caddis patterns and even parachute adams in these slower more protected sections of the streams. Our small hot headed mini bugger played a big part in their success as a nymph pattern, as the cutts just slammed into them. Late afternoon and early evening were the best hours to be on the water. Had to work for the fish, but well worth the effort.

The clearwater is running at low flow with 12ft of vis. River is dropping slowly.
The fish are spread out from the mouth all the way to Copper Mine Bottom.
The best techniques have been float fishing or plug pulling. For float fishing Aero Jig and Beau Mac jigs in Pink, Pink/white, Cerise and Night mare jigs have been the best.
For plug pulling i have had the best luck with a Wordens flat fish in a x-4 in silver, silver/pink dots, TJ special, Falme, Flame red dots, green Hornet, flounder silver/black/red back.
Fishing will just get better each day as more and more wild fish show up.

The clearwater is running at low flow with 6ft of vis. River is dropping slowly.
The fish are spread out from the mouth all the way to Copper Mine Bottom.
