supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:
50 °
FISHING: Great
River is still high with limited vis, but the hatchery fish are showing up in big numbers.
State has increased the limit to 6 fish per day. Concentrate efforts around Blue Creek and Barrier Dam. Crowds will be a little bit of a problem with the river so dirty. Fish in close to the bank with larger offerings.
This will stay good for the next couple of weeks before the second run starts in about mid February.

RECORDED:

FISHING: Fair
Cowlitz is still blown out due to the November floods.
They have raised the limit to 6 fish a day.
Blue creek itself continues to be very productive with lots of fish being caught . Be prepared to do a little combat fishing though.
I dont think that the Cowlitz is going to be fishable by boat any time soon.

Cowlitz River - October 17th, 2006
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:
55 °
FISHING: Great
The cowlitz is the perfect height for this time of year.
Summer Steelhead are spread out through river. Meduim sized flies have been working well in the bigger riffels early and late in the day. Use bright colored flies in low light and dark flies in brighter light.
For the gear fisherman side drifting small eggs clusters or prawns have been good. As the fish go off the bite switch over to plugs like a michael jackson, flame red, purple gizmo or black herring bone x-4's eem to do the trick. The pressure on Steelhead is slowing down as people are switching over to salmon.
Salmon are still entering the lower river. Fish with a Sardine wrapped Kwikfish or Cutplug Herring on a diver. Dont be afraid to go down to small plugs in salmon colors for these kings in the low water.
Look for this to continue until we get are first good rain and then move up river to Blue Creek and the Barrier Dam.
