L.C. Ranch - Private - July 1st, 2008

FISHING: Excellent maps
The fish continue to be active and chasing streamers mornings and late in the day.  For those fish that aren't active suspending nymphs in feeding lanes will produce.  With High temperatures fish will be hanging in a little deeper water than normal, so longer nymph rigs and the like are in order. On Overcast days look for Callibaetis for some topwater action.

FISHING: Excellent maps
Although the Ranch was a little slow to get going this year (due to lingering ice and cold).  The ponds are ice free and ready to go.  Fishing has be phenomenal, the fish are hungry and chasing streamers.  They are also hitting suspended nymphs.  The late May and June hatches (like damsels) are right around the corner.

FISHING: Fair maps
Well, there is no way to put this gently, the Ranch is still frozen.  In years past, lakes have thawed by now, but our unusually cold winter is reluctant to let go.  We suspect that the Ranch will be ready to fish within the next week or so.

As you would probably guess, ice off is a great time to be fish at the L.C. Ranch, so start planning you spring trip today.

FISHING: Excellent maps
Once again our favorite time of year is upon us.  Fall is definately the best time of year to fish the ranch.  The fish are active and in great shape.  Terrestrial fishing is still good, and a hopper dropper rig can be deadly.  Most other techniques also produce fish.

The weather this last week really began to turn cold, we were actually driving through snow for the first time yesterday on our way to the Provo.

As always, be prepared for any type of weather when heading out to Utah for a fishing trip, one day you might be fishing in a short sleeve shirt and the next day or even later the same day, bundled up in fleece and jackets. To ensure your comfort during your trip, make to be prepared for any type of weather.   Fall is a wonderful time of year to be on the waters at the LC. Book early to ensure the dates of your trip! FISHING: Excellent maps
Once again, we have given the Ranch a bit of a break the last month or so.  The weather has been hot, and the ponds warm.  It can be very difficult on these big fish during this time of year, so we avoid fishing for them.  That being said, the temps are starting to come down, and that means the fishing is going to turn on.

Everyone who has fished the Ranch in the fall will tell you how good it can be.  Many of these satisfied fishermen have already booked their trips for this fall season.  To ensure your chance to fish the Ranch this fall, call now to book your trip.  The fishing was good enough earlier in the year, that we are anticipating some fantastic fishing in the next three months.  I want to remind everyone about an often overlooked month, but probably our favorite month on the Ranch, November.  The fish are really putting the feed on to carry them through the winter, and will readily eat most offerings.

L.C. Ranch - Private - August 1st, 2007

FISHING: Excellent maps
The LC Ranch is fishing really well right now.  We continue to have successful trips that leave people smiling.  I know that we have said it before, but one of the wonderful things about the LC is the various ponds and lakes that we can fish.  When one pond isn't fishing well, there is a great chance that another one is.

As the weather temperature stays warm (hot), the water temperature continues to warm.  This time of year it is crucial that we take care of this resource.  This means playing the fish quickly and making sure that they are properly revived before releasing them.

The trout are focused on the terrestrials and fishing with hoppers, crickets, beetles, etc has been great.  A effective setup is the dry-dropper (aka Hopper-Dropper).  Any big bushy dry trailed by a beadhead nymph will get the job done.

Hooking a 30" inch rainbow is one thing, landing it is a whole other proposition.

The LC Ranch is fishing really well right now.  We have had several wonderful trips that last few weeks.  I know that we have said it before, but one of the wonderful things about the LC is the various ponds and lakes that we can fish.  When one pond isn't fishing well, there is a great chance that another one is.

While we love to throw dries, we also know that we have to do what the fish tell us to.  The last week or so, the fish have not been working high in the water column.  We have been able to pick up a fair number of fish by getting down to them with intermediate and sink tip fly lines.  One of our favorites is the Cortland Clear Camo.

We don't expect to be fishing the deep water for long...the damsels will be on the move any day now!

An early ice off has the Ranch running at full throttle already!  The fish are active and cruising looking for an easy meal (and, of course, we are willing to help).

Streamers and stripping nymphs has been effective, but we have also gotten multiple fish to eat dry flies.  The small black gnats are already hatching, which is just the start of the varieties of dries we will see in the next month or two.
