Lewis River - January 11th, 2007
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:
31 °
FISHING: Good
River in great shape with 3-4 vis and meduim-high flow.
Plenty of hatchery steelhead showing up from Cedar Creek down to Island Ramp. Stick with Sidedrifting or plug pulling to search out these steelhead.
Winter Kings still hanging around. Fish for these kings with your conventional king tackle. Kwikfish and Diver and Eggs have been the best lately.
Dont be surprised to find some Kings while fishing for the steelhead.

Lewis River - January 3rd, 2007
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:
48 °
FISHING: Good
The lewis is running at 9600 cfs and about 3 ft of vis. This is prime time for the hatchery steelhead to show up in numbers.
I would either sidedrift bait from the Cedar Creek hatchery down to the Island ramp or fish plugs in all the good holes, seams and inside corners with bright colored plugs.
Dont be surprized if you run into a Winter King with these same techniques. There are still plenty of Winter Kings showing up and will stay good for the next couple of weeks.

Lewis River - October 17th, 2006
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:
55 °
FISHING: Good
The lewis is at normal summer flow.
Summer steelhead has slowed down but still well worth the try. Fish small Dark flies early and late in the day in the riffels.
For the gear fisherman, you might try float and jig fishing or a float and very small egg cluster, prawn or a night crawler. Small #3 dark colored spinners are also good this time of year.
Salmon have entered the river and are trecking there way up stream. For Kings the best method so far has been floats and eggs, but in the deeper pools you can also hover fish for them. Silvers have been best caught drift fishing small pieces of yarn or dead drifting very small jigs under a float.
The salmon numbers will continue to build over the next month or so.

Lewis River - April 2nd, 2006
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:
45 °
FISHING: Good
The lewis running at 2800 cfs which is a great level for Steelhead and Springers.
Steelhead
Side Drifting Eggs or Plug Pulling are the preferred methods of fishing for steelhead. If Sidedrifting use two number 4 hooks with a cheater in the middle in Red, Orange/red dot, Rainbow, Glo Green and Glo Orange with a small cluster of red eggs cured in Pautzke red or Tuti fruti home made cure.
Spring Chinook
For early run Springers fish with Herring, Plugs or Spinners. I will usually run two Herring off my back two rods with couple of T-4 Flatfish on the front two and a Bob Toman Spinner on a dropper on my rod. Concentrate on the bigger holes below the cedar creek hatchery down to echo park. You might also fish down just above Woodland to to intercept some traveling fish coming in on the tide. As the season progress's the bite will switch to eggs or Prawns so try them every once in while to see if they sre bitng them. The key to great Springer success is to be versatile.
