Fishing Report: The dam managers have been decreasing the flows about 500 C.F.S. a day until they get to their target flow of 4100 C.F.S. The hatch activity has been very solid with trico's, pmd's and caddis. The caddis and pmd's have been strong for several weeks now and the tricos are just starting to hatch in very good numbers. With the hot weather this week fishing has been very good early in the am and late in the evening. There has been a bit of a slow period through the heat of the day. Nymphing will get you into some fish if you must fish the entire day. The hatches have been stronger downstream of Craig but the hatches nearer the dam have been gaining ground on the upper reaches. Hopefully the dam managers will keep the flows at around 4100 for a while, the higher flows will make a difference in the fishing later this summer.

Fly Pattern Suggestions: Hackle Stacker PMD # 14-18, Quill Body PMD # 14-18, PMD Paracripple # 14-18, Parachute Hares Ear # 14-18, CDC PMD Emerger # 14-18, Killer May # 14-18, Split Case PMD # 14-18, Spent Partridge Caddis # 14-16, Elk Hair Caddis # 14-16, Parachute Caddis # 14-16, Goddard Caddis # 14-16, Mangy Caddis # 14-16, Electric Caddis # 14-16, Triple Wing Trico # 18-20, Double wing spinner # 20-22, CDC Trico # 18-20, CDC Hackle Stacker Trico # 18-20.

REPORTS: The second day of cloudy weather should get the bugs kicking over here a bit more. The best rig will remain a hopper/dropper but tandem nymph rigs in the riffles have been the numbers producers lately. The evening caddis hatch is still very intense and has become the point in the day where you'll make your hay.

REPORTS: Hey look, another slight change in the flow on the Missouri. The fishing has been good when you can find the podded up fish. Because of the much higher flows than most people are used to, the fish will not be where you are used to finding them. The evenings have been productive with PMD’s and caddis, it’s just a matter of locating and taking it to the pods. Standard Missouri fare in terms of the small nymphs continue to work well. RS2s, lighting bugs, flashback p-tails, red san juan worms, pink scuds, etc...

REPORTS: Your fishing is liable to be much better in the afternoon than this morning on the Mo. Bright sun for the fisrt time in a while will likely keep the fish down until the clouds and rain move in this afternoon. While there will be some wind accompanying the front, it doesn't sound like it should be too bad. You'll really want to see the clouds by then anyway! Standard Missouri fare in terms of the small nymphs and then dark bugger patterns continue to produce well. Hopper/dropper rigs are still a happy thing. When you come to a pod of risers, a simple #14 cripple or parachute adams will suffice. The evening caddis has been lots of fun with a stalcup emerger. Flows have remained fairly stable in the mid to upper 6,000 for some time now and the stability has helped get the fishing back on track after the big push of water on the 17th.

REPORTS: Below Holter, flows are down about 70 cfs today. The river's settling out now after the big spike of a few days ago. The dryfly fishing has become much more consistent once again and a variety of dries from caddis to hoppers to mayfly cripples will get the fish looking. The prospecting hopper/dropper rig is still working VERY well for us and at this point, is our first dryfly choice unless conditions or hatches suggest otherwise. This rig has been working well to motivate fish that hadn't even been rising. Tandem nymph rigs in mid river seams and drop offs are still going to produce for you. Slow moving, dark bodied streamers are still a good option for those of us who like to use depth charges. The evening caddis hatch/fishing has been very consistent in the warm evening temperatures. Beginning about 6:30 or 7, many of the slower backwaters and tail out riffles will come alive with caddis and fish feeding on 'em. Sparkle caddis and X caddis have been a good option once the naturals begin popping.

Fishing Report: The flows on the Mighty Mo were bumped up almost half on Friday and Saturday last week. The river is still in very good shape but the flows have slowed the dry fly fishing slightly. There are still hatches of PMD's in the morning and caddis in the evening. The nymphing has been more productive and you will need to add a decent amount of weight to get the flies down to the fish. I would suspect we will see the flows maintain where they are for the next couple of weeks at least as there is a lot of water coming down the headwater streams of the Missouri. As long as the flows don't increase we should see more consitent and stronger hatch activity in the coming weeks.

Fly Pattern Suggestions: Hackle Stacker PMD # 14-18, Quill Body PMD # 14-18, PMD Paracripple # 14-18, Parachute Hares Ear # 14-18, CDC PMD Emerger # 14-18, Killer May # 14-18, Split Case PMD # 14-18, Spent Partridge Caddis # 14-16, Elk Hair Caddis # 14-16, Parachute Caddis # 14-16, Goddard Caddis # 14-16, Mangy Caddis # 14-16, Electric Caddis # 14-16.

REPORTS: Conditions are looking good on the Mo again today but there could be a bit more afternoon wind than we've seen recently. The clouds have been key. Bursts of sunshine are shutting things down hard while even brief periods of cloud cover will get the fish chowing again. Smaller, typical Missouri nymphs like lighting bugs, small pink and gray scuds, beerheads should be working well as should various smaller mayfly dries. Caddis have been working well later in the day and so have hopper patterns of various size and flavor. Streamers are working well in the clouds.

Fishing Report: The Missouri has been the hot spot in the area because of the amount of clear water that it provides during this runoff period. There have been some baetis hatches as well as a few sparse caddis hatches along the river. Nymphing has been the mainstay until you find rising fish. The Dearborn and Little Prickly Pear Creek have not been a problem in the past couple of weeks. Heavy rains could add some dirty water to the river from these two streams but it will take a good bit of water to make it a problem. Angler pressure has been a little heavy since there are not alot of other options but the trip up to the Mo has been well worth the drive.

Fly Pattern Suggestions: BWO Thorax #18-22, BWO Parachute #18-22, Parachute Adams #16-20, Lightning Bug #16-18, Soft Hackle Sow Bug #14-16, BH Pheasant Tail #14-18, Olive Anatomay #16-18, Wire Wonder #16-18, Brown Bugger #4-6, JJ Special #2-4, Clouser Crayfish #4-6, Bunny Crayfish #4-6.

Fishing Report: The Missouri is fishing very well and is our best bet for finding clear water and happy trout. Spring Runoff is not affecting the Mo much anymore and the Dearborn and Little Prickly Pear have cleared and made the river fishable most of the way downstream. There have been some hatches of Baetis and Midges but they have been in isolated areas and you will just have to be fortunate enough to run into a pod of risers. Nymphing has been great during non hatch periods. The usual small tailwater nymphs have been the ticket. Trail the smaller nymphs behind a Scud of San Juan worm. The river will probably be a little busy over the weekend but there is a lot of water for everyone to enjoy.
