Sol Duc River - May 7th, 2008
supplied by: Angler's Guide Service
RECORDED:
57 °
FISHING: Great
Sol Duc in great shape with 4 ft of vis and 6 boards.
Fish from the hatchery down to the mouth.
It is all Springer's now.
For springers the best tchniques will be pulling plugs in sizes form T-4 flatfish, k-13 kwikfish and k-15 kwikfish. Try colors like silver/char bill, silver/red bill, blue scale, blue scale/char bill, glad clown, green hornet and grinch.
With a little color to the water try fishing a cut plug herring on a 5 foot leader and a size 20 jet diver. this works very good when there is color in the water.
As the water clears we switch over to a size 20 diver and a shrimp/egg combo or sardine/egg combo. One of the secerts that I employ is to fish a dyed pink coon stripe shrimp behind that diver. Springers cant resist these things.
Springers will just keep getting better in the next couple of weeks.

Sol Duc in poor shape right now do to recent rains. This will drop right back in shape by tomorrow.

Lots of both fresh fish and spawners in the river. When it drops back into shape Sidedrifting bait will be the best technique to use. As water drops floats and jigs have very effective this year.
