Weber River - November 29th, 2004
supplied by: Western Rivers Flyfisher
FISHING: Good
The Weberis currently flowing at about 70 c.f.s. between Rockport and Echo reservoirs. This is pretty low. Overall fishing here is fair to good. If you are going to fish nymphs, expect to catch a fair number of whitefish. For those not familiar with this river the DWR’s has created a significant amount of public access. Due to the releases below Echo reservoir we are mostly fishing between Rockport and Echo. The current water release below Echo is 1cfs. You will have to go below Lost Creek to find a fishable flow. It is 120 cfs from the confluence of Lost Creek downstream. With this week’s cooler weather and clouds expect good blue wing hatches. Streamers are also a good bet here, but due to the low flows will only be practicle to fish in the riffle or deeper runs.

Weber River - November 22nd, 2004

FISHING: Good maps
The water is down on most sections of the Weber, so the fish are concentrated, but quality runs are more scarce.

Small nymphs will work best for some nice browns and hard-fightin' whitefish.  The browns are gearing up for the spawn, so avoid walking on the shallow gravel bars and let the fish "make more fish".

The Weber is the best option if you want to get away from the crowds yet still have a solid chance and a quality fish, close to Salt Lake. Don't let a few white fish scare you away from one of the best trout fisheries in the state.

Dry flies:
Very little dry fly activity.  If anything, small midges (ie - fuzzballs and griffiths gnats).

Nymphs:
- Hares ear 14-18
- Pheasant tail 16-20 (try it with or without a bead, if you go smaller try a flash back PT)
- Midge pupae, zebras, brassies, crystal midges (red, olive, brown, black)
- WD-40's (red, gray, brown)
- San Juan worm ( red, brown)

Streamers:
- Break out the streamer box give them all a shot. Zonkers or Buggers are probably your best bet. Try black, brown, white or ginger.

Weber River Fishing Report- Good Ole Webe'. It is a good river on the Right day. Warmer with clouds will bring the fish to the surface. Right now it is warm with sunshine, Fish are deep. The best nympning is around Wanship to Rockport area. Nice hatches of midges right now. Big fish will be holding in deep water before and after the hatches. During the Hatch, they move shallow looking for midge pupa. use any flies with a little flash or a bead head that is around a #16 or smaller. They may take a small Pheasant tail but for a real money fly, you need a soft hackle bead head pheasant tail in around a size #20.

The report is still quite good over here. They are still seeing some very nice browns and monster whitefish on the section between Rovkport and Echo. They like small beadheaded bwo nymphs and midges with a little flash to them. Look for big fish to solitary and deep. Dry flies have not been working well so stay deep. If there happens to be a nice fish up on top, swing soft hackle of griffiths his way and see what happens.
